Control Centre Solution Elements

Standard Communications

The Mobile and the Kiosk Units are connected to one or more Central Command server(s) that act as the information hubs for the network. Real Time communications is available via a either Cellular or RF modems and each Mobile station also has a WIFI Proximity secured communication for use when in Service Areas.

Out of the Box Central Server

The Central Server exceeds by far the requirements of the fare collection activity. It is an “Out of the box” command center that is a strong foundation for a full Intelligent Transportation System for fleet monitoring and management. The Central Server monitors the location (included AVL) and status of the fleet in real time and can communicate directly with the onboard unit. The Central Server application also performs administrative functions such batching transactions with financial institutions and providing operational reports on ridership, revenues and other operational statistics by route, zone and time.

For example, the Central Server produces all the fleet, administrative and financial reports and queries. These includes:

  • Thematic mapping showing on the digital cartographic map (included GIS in our proposal) the results of various predefined and had-hoc queries relative to the fare collection and the fleet operation. As examples:
    • Report via a cartographic map in contrasting colors and styles the bus stops which have high concentration of riders using the new contactless prepaid credits cards
    • Show the bus routes on the map in contrasting colors and styles that are crowded or congested, as a function of the time of day.
    • Show the different portion of bus routes that are experience recurring schedule maintenance or other problems over certain period of time
  • Surveillance and immediate reporting of alarms (including automatic Short Messages (SMS) to designated administrator cell phone) for every alarm event in real time by the Onboard Mobile stations. For examples,
    • Reporting when a bus is significantly ahead or late on its planned schedule for a given route;
    • Or when a bus has strayed from its designated route due to a traffic jam, road closure or possible theft.
    • Show the different portion of bus routes that are experience recurring schedule maintenance or other problems over certain period of time
  • Archiving data related to the level of services to be used to objectively report on service performance or in case of disputes arising from customer complaints.
  • Tabular data extracts for further analysis or reformatting using in third party systems (e.g.: Windows Excel, etc.)
  • Easy configuration of all system parameters, including bus routes, bus stops, fare structure as a function of the fare zones, and bus schedules through the Business Logic Manager.

Flexible Configuration Environment

We provide a very flexible environment to configure the applications that reside on the onboard units and at the Central Servers via the Business Logic Management application of the ITSMAX solution. This environment can be used to generate comprehensive reports of all aspects of the service environment.
